The Optimizers Guide to Adwords: Ad SiteLinks
As a website owner with different pages (a landing page, a pricing page, a feature tour, and a contact page), you have to decide which page to send your Adwords traffic to. Because different audiences may be interested in different parts of your site, this can be a tricky proposition. Although landing pages are designed to help make the process easier, there is always room for improvement and more customization. Adwords provides a solution to this problem which they call Ad Sitelinks.
Ad Sitelinks empowers your visitors with more choices and increased relevancy by providing extra links within your ad. Utilizing Sitelinks grows your brand’s ad quality, as well as your keyword value. Providing options to your users can result in more effective conversions and increased transparency a major component of quality score.
Without Sitelinks:
Prospective visitors who see your ad don’t know what kind of page they’re going to see when they click on your ad. In the interest of time, they may look for another ad that quotes prices or directly names features they’re looking for.
With Sitelinks:
Rather than sending all visitors to the same landing page, Ad Sitelinks will show up to 4 additional destination URLs on your ad for users to choose from. By providing users with more options, you can create more relevant, higher-quality ads that improve the value of your brand’s keywords.
Ad Sitelinks also makes it easy to promote special deals or news: instead of relying on the ad-text, you can simply include a Sitelink to that special deal or promotion.
How do I start using Ad Sitelinks:
1. Under Ad extensions > Sitelinks, check the box next to “Extend my ads with links to sections on my site.
2. List the names and URLs of up to 10 internal links (prioritizing the most important links first)
3. Click “Save” when you’ve finished adding your links.
4. If a user search triggers your ad to run with Sitelinks, Adwords may include up to 10 of your additional links on your ad, along with the main landing page link. The higher the quality of your ad, the more likely it is that Sitelinks may be able to run on that ad.
